Ken and Sandra McInerney moved to Bordertown in 1997 after spending the majority of their lives in Adelaide. They were married in 1987 and have no children. In their place they have a dog and a cat, both absolutely spoilt. Ken was taking up the position of Manager of the Commonwealth Bank and whilst Sandra was also in the bank, she was unable to work in the same branch with her husband and resigned prior to her arrival.
Ken completed just over 40 years’ with the bank, retiring in September 2002. Ken currently is an elected member of the Tatiara District Council.
In 2007/2008, in partnership with a local builder, Ken and Sandra constructed two courtyard homes. One was sold and the other became the first Bed & Breakfast in Bordertown, known as “Haven on Haynes.” The first guest arrived early in 2009. Together, Ken and Sandra operated as joint proprietors and they operated Haven on Haynes - 4 star rating accommodation for 10 years. This business has grown from its inception 10 years ago to the best accommodation in Bordertown.
In 2014 Ken and Sandra decided to expand their business and started Mapperley Bed & Breakfast as a farm stay experience and changed their business name to Bordertown Accommodation to accommodate both Bed and Breakfasts.
At the end of 2018 Ken and Sandra wanted to travel more and decided to close Haven on Haynes and sold the house and downsized their business to one bed and breakfast - Mapperley.
